The Booker Building on Goss Avenue was once?the home of?Louisville Cotton?Mills. This industrial complex was built in 1889 and, at over 250,000 sq. ft. and 8 acres of property, was one of the largest textile plants in the country.
The main building has frontage on Goss Avenue of 650 feet consisting of a five story tower and long three story wings.? A 120 foot smokestack with decorative corbeling at its crown is attached to the boiler room.? Features such as birds-eye maple and pine floors, 18-inch brick walls over limestone foundation blocks, and over ten thousand individual window panes are simply irreplaceable by today's construction standards.
